Phentermine is an appetite suppressant with a long history of use in the U.S. It acts on the brain chemical known as Dopamine, thereby causing people to eat less.

4. Can I stay on other weight loss programs at the same time as I take these medications?
Yes. It is recommended that you follow a sensible diet designed specifically for you and to consult with your primary care provider before starting any weight loss program. Certain diet programs have been known to conflict with the results of our program, please inform your health care provider of any special diet(s) you may be on or considering.

5. Are there any shots involved in this weight loss program?
We do offer concentrated vitamin injections on a weekly basis and oral proprietary vitamin medications that include L-Carnitine, Chromate, and Rodex (Vitamin B6). Remember, medically reducing your appetite means we need to make sure you get the nutrients your body needs. These shots ensure you stay healthy. For patients who don't like injections, we remind them to focus on how good they'll feel when the weight is gone!

6. Can I take any other prescription medication while in this program?
Every patient is different. Due to potential interactions, always discuss your medications with your Physician before adding new medications. The combination of medications, containing stimulants, particularly Ephedra, can cause heart palpitations and other health risks.

7. How many pills a day do I take?
Typically one pill of Phentermine or Bontril in the morning and two pills of the Topamax at night. The dose and frequency of the medications will be adjusted by your physician according to your individual weight loss needs. We have a combination pill that is once daily available as well.

8. Does this work for everyone?
Approximately 5% of patients in our group can be termed “non-responders.” We cannot predict who this might be. Factors such as diet, exercise and behavior modifications play a significant role in the program’s success.

9. How long can I take the medication?
Individual factors such as diet, exercise, BMI, health risk and behavior modifications are all taken into consideration when determining dosage and duration. Results will vary depending on the patient's dedication and commitment to achieving their target weight.

10. Will I be hungry?

11. Do I have to live in Las Vegas?
No. Currently we would need you to come to Las Vegas for the initial visit, but then you would only need to come back in six months. No. Our motto is “START LOW AND GO SLOW.” Our goal for the program is that you obtain a safe and satisfactory weight loss of 10-15% over six months to one year. 16. What makes this better than liposuction or stomach stapling?

Unlike PhenterMax, liposuction and stomach stapling (gastric bypass) are surgical procedures. Surgery and use of anesthesia can carry serious risks.

According to a research article published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (2000), among 475,000 liposuction patients who had liposuction surgeries performed on them by surgeons using general anesthesia or heavy IV sedation, there were a total of 95 deaths. Other studies suggest that the risk of death from lipoplasty is between 20 and 100 deaths per 100,000 procedures.

One big danger with liposuction is sucking out too much of your body in a single session. There is a definite limit to the quantity of fat removal and associated surgical trauma that is safe for your body. The most common causes of death from lipoplasty surgeries are: 1) Blood clot in your lung; 2) Infection; 3) Damage to your liver, intestines or lungs; 4) Drug Reactions and 5) Side Effects of Anesthesia.

Liposuction isn't an appropriate weight loss method because of the large quantity of blood and body fluids that are suctioned out with the fat, only about 2-5 pounds of tissue can be removed during the procedure. Most reputable plastic surgeons recommend that liposuction be used only on patients who are already at or near their ideal body weights. (PhenterMax on the other hand can help you whether you need to lose a few pounds, or over 100 pounds! And... without any surgery.)

A significant number of patients who undergo “stomach stapling” or gastric bypass surgery develop nerve damage and spinal cord injuries according to the Mayo Clinic. "Three nerve disorders were identified in the study patients:

1. sensory predominant neuropathy, marked by pain and/or sensory loss, usually in the feet
2. mononeuropathy, involving individual nerves, as in carpal tunnel syndrome, and
3. radiculoplexus neuropathy, marked by weakness, sensory loss and/or pain in a patchy, multifocal way. Radiculoplexus neuropathy can have the most serious consequences of the three, including confining a patient to a wheelchair."

“Stomach stapling” or gastric bypass is even scarier: the operation has about a 1% death rate and immediately following surgery your possible risks would include incision infections, the wound bursting open, leaks from staple breakdown, marginal ulcers, various pulmonary problems and deep clotting in veins. About ten percent of patients suffer some post-op complications.

The cost can range between $20,000 and $55,000.

At our office in Las Vegas (and soon in Phoenix) we take your medical history and review your vital signs, blood pressure, height and weight. Many factors determine your eligibility to participate in this program. Your personal health history plays an important role for eligibility and will be discussed in depth with the medical provider.

Patients under the age of 18 who are candidates must provide a signed consent form from a parent or legal guardian. Your health is of utmost concern. If we feel your health is at risk we reserve the right to refuse service for this program.

After the evaluation you will be given an outline of the services and fees required to meet your goals. Pricing ranges based on specific medications prescribed and anticipated duration of the program to achieve your target weight. You will be given dietary and exercise guidelines at your initial visit.
